Nancy Varvil

I grew up on a cattle farm in Arkansas and taught Engli sh there and in Houston. I then became a stewardess with TWA, moved to New York and flew overseas for three years There I met my husband of 23 years. We lived in Greenwich, CT, Los Angeles, Seattle, WA and Fayetteville, AR. I divorced him and have been on my own since except for a few long-term relationships. I have two brothers and their families in Arkansas whom I respect and enjoy. I've had a bunch of jobs. I've sold real estate, commodity options, and employee benefit plans. I taught ESL for three years, ran a Nontraditional Occupations project for women, was a coordinator for the Associated Builders and Contractors, a camera lady for NBC news for the 6 and 10 o'clock news. I became a reporter in northwest Arkansas for the Arkansas Gazette, followed by five years as our county's election coordinator after which I retired. All of these but the first four were in Arkansas. I also volunteered in Arkansas: I was head of our 100+ League of Women Voters, member of the Ozark Society, member of the city's Environmental Action Committee, chair of our Urban Forestry Board, one of the founders of the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association. When Trump was elected, I joined the local Indivisible group. I marched with the Women's March and on MLK day.
