Juanita Dunn

My husband and I have been coming to NM for more than 35 years and have had a second home here for the past 22 years. Twelve years ago we made the decision to move here from northwest Arkansas full time. We both are artists, Jack is a painter and I am a sculptor. We are represented by the Acosta Strong Fine Art gallery on Canyon Road. I have been a working artist most of my life in various fields, first as a weaver and college instructor teaching clothing and textiles. After that I had a line of custom hand painted silk clothing while living in Arkansas. Helen Walton was one of my clients and I made the ensemble she wore to the opening of the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington DC. I have been a full-time ceramic sculptor since moving to Santa Fe. While in Arkansas I worked with Helen Walton for the National Museum for Women in the Arts in the Northwest Arkansas Area. I was also a representative from Arkansas on the four state Mid-America Arts Alliance centered in Kansas City. Their focus is to bring world class original art to the middle of the country and smaller venues throughout the USA. I also conceived and managed a four-state competition In Fayetteville Arkansas to include original works of art into the construction of the Walton Arts Center. During this time in Arkansas, I also owned and operated a small cattle business for about 15 years while my husband was an executive at Tyson Foods. I have been active in the arts for years and now am more interested in being active in political issues an SOS is great group to be affiliated with.
