Ginny (Virginia) Barsky
Most of my adult life was spent in New York City working at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Television Advertising and The Carlyle Hotel.
My move to Santa Fe in 1995 was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was assistant to the
General Manager of the Eldorado and Project Manager at the NM Department of Tourism where my responsibilities entailed obtaining national designation for the Santa Fe Trail Scenic Byway. I then joined the Department of Transportation where I was responsible for the 27 NM Scenic Byways. It gave me the opportunity to travel across the state meeting with different communities through town hall meetings, and working with local byway coordinators for economic development and national recognition for some of the Byways.
At 64, I took early retirement and spent years volunteering for many organizations in Santa Fe. I loved everything I was involved in but then some health issues made me stop most of my volunteering.
My folks, brother and sister-in-law have died. I have two nephews -Zev and his family live in Boulder, Colorado and Adam and his family live in Melbourne Australia.
SOS has been a godsend to me. I've never been politically active (except to campaign for Obama - who couldn't?). Sandy as leader and
all the terrific women in our group are inspiring, and I feel honored to be a member of this amazing group.
