I am originally from New York. Long Island, actually. Pronounced Longgggisland. I grew up in Levittown in one of those developments built for returning GIs, like my dad, who bought an inexpensive but well-built house. Republicans would call this socialism. While my younger life is a blur, my fully formed memories start at college. And then my work life - publishing. First books, then newspapers, then magazines, then websites. All of it on the business side in sales: college textbooks and then advertising. Highlights were The New Yorker (great magazine to read but awful place to work), Business Week (wonderful experience). My last job was with the Business Insider website before it became famous. That was a blast. Mixed into all that excitement was a marriage, a divorce, and a second marriage. This time to my soul mate, Roland. We met on a plane. Oh -no kids. I forgot to do that. Fast forward to retirement here in Santa Fe in May of 2020 and in the middle of the pandemic. I stepped up my activities and got involved with...everything. I’m a Ward Vice Chair for DPSFC and webmaster (or mistress) of the website. I’m also a member of Retake Our Democracy (learned so much following the 30-day session), and now a member of Indivisible. I volunteer as an usher with Performance Santa Fe, and last year was a part-time usher at Santa Fe Opera, which I am hoping to move to full time this season. Roland and I are outdoor people. We enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, and generally anything that expands our physical, intellectual, and cultural boundaries. I would love to join a chorus. Anyone know a good chorus I can join? And finally - I am excited to join this vibrant and well-organized SOS team!
