Christine Waddill

Drs. Christine and Van Waddill moved from the Florida Keys to Santa Fe last November. Chris received her B.A. from Smith College in Massachusetts and her PhD from Ohio State University in Plant Pathology. She served as a faculty member and administrator at Michigan State University and a administrator at the University of Florida as Dean of Extension. Daughter Meredith is a partner at a law firm in Orlando and daughter Holly holds a PhD in human genetics and works at a biotechnology company outside of the DC area. Holly’s two teenagers attend school in Montgomery County, Maryland. As a child, Chris spent time visiting her aunt and uncle who lived and worked at the Ganado Mission on the Navajo Reservation. These special visits exposed her to the beauty of the Southwest part of our country. The Waddills will be splitting their time between Santa Fe and Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes in upstate NY. As Van is from the Hill Country in Texas, we will also make trips to his family ranch when the bluebonnets and other wild flowers are blooming. Van hiked and hunted in New Mexico in his youth. We are enjoying Santa Fe shops, galleries and restaurants but are still spending too much time at grocery stores, Ace Hardware and Lowe’s! We are really enjoying the birds that come to our suet, birdfeeders and bird baths. Walking is our major form of exercise but the hills and altitude really had us huffing and puffing the first few weeks! Connected to Indivisible SOS through Charlene Meier (Blue CD2NM). We share a good friend who is politically active in Michigan.
