Our Successes

New School Curriculum

Indivisible SOS actively supported the NM Public Education Department’s proposed curriculum for K-12 schools. These important standards, which went into effect in February 2022, include critical thinking, evaluating evidence, historical accuracy and inclusion of all the peoples who have contributed to New Mexico and U.S. history. When the comment period opened, 90 percent of opinions were against; our advocacy was vital in turning the tide. The new standards are a great advance for the students of New Mexico and an example of what we can achieve together.

Protection of Civil Rights

Our group is helping local law enforcement protect the civil rights of residents. We made important contributions to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office use-of-force policies and assisted in the establishment of special training to curb police misconduct.

We are partnering with immigrant-rights organization, Somos Un Pueblo Unido, to ensure economic justice and voting representation for all New Mexicans. 

We are working with BlueCD2 to elect a Democrat to the U.S. House seat in southern New Mexico. We are participating in the re-election campaign of U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez who faces challenges due to redistricting. In 2021, we supported Representative Melanie Stansbury in her successful campaign for New Mexico’s 1st congressional district.

On the environmental front, we successfully opposed the merger of multinational corporation Avangrid with our local utility PNM. We are fighting the introduction of a hydrogen hub in New Mexico.

We have donated water tanks, clothing, health items and other supplies to immigrants on the border and to Navajo and Pueblo people in our state.
