FAQ

Indivisible was founded by husband-andwife Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg in response to Trump’s first election. The organization consists of thousands of local groups across the country with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild democracy and defeat the Trump agenda. Each chapter is free to prioritize its efforts based on local needs and can take advantage of technical, strategy and financial support from the national team. https://indivisible.org/about

We are an all-women group. Our members range from life-long activists to novices, all united by a passion for social justice and the protection of our democracy. We focus on speakers who inspire direct action and help us become more informed. Since 2016, we have built relationships with our governor, U.S. senators, Congressional representatives, state legislators and a wide range of  leaders in areas such as environment, health and criminal justice.

In addition to our weekly speakers, we help elect progressive candidates in our city, state and country. We write postcards and letters, make calls, text and canvass. We initiate and participate in projects that support law enforcement reform, civil and immigrant rightshealth equity, public utilities resource conservation and more. We cooperate with like-minded groups to organize demonstrations and other forms of resistance.

We follow legislative activities year-round. We identify areas of focus and advocate for these with our senators and representatives. We draft bills, attend committee meetings and offer testimony. Dozens of legislators have given talks to our group, which gives us the opportunity to question, push for our priorities and support their efforts.

We believe we can be most effective locally because we are based in the state capitawith easy access to the legislature and because we have built a reputation with our legislators as committed women who get things done. However, our work also includes issues of national import.
