John A. Lawrence

John A. Lawrence served for thirty-eight years as a senior staff person in the United States House of Representatives and served as Nancy Pelosi’s chief of staff from 2005 to 2013.He is currently is a visiting professor at the University of California’s Washington Center. Professor Lawrence is the author of several political books, The Class of ’74: Congress After Watergate and the Roots of Partisanship “and “Arc of Power: Inside Nancy Pelosi’s Speakership, 2005-2010. Professor Lawrence has also written several books on Sherlock Holmes, based on historical events.
